hoppera nights

some of my regular readers may not be aware of me in my role as an arbiter of high culture, but i can tell you that i know what's what when it comes to the arts.

here i am, for example, waiting for the curtain to go up on an opera at la teatro fenice in venice.

in the background you can see the presidential box where i was obviously invited to have a seat but graciously declined so as not to upset brian and david who were having to sit with the plebs...

Buttons at the Opera

Hello Buttons!!, and what opera? Puccini perhaps?, I think you are near to the Puccini's sense of drama, but perhaps you like more Verdi's festivity...

I like your new blog, nice colours, refreshing too.

as it happens, eudora, there were songs by puccini and verdi.

this was a new year's day concert when they just do the favourite bits, so as not to be too boring for folk who aren't used to a lot of culture in one go or too exhausting for anyone who overdid their celebrations the night before.

I agree, polkadotsoph - and then he can rabbit on to even greater lengths.

But do you really think he'll manage to Opera ate a keyboard?

SharonM, I don't know if you've met Roger with whom I live. But it sounds as though you might have done: that's about the worst pun I've heard for ages!

(I notice Buttons doesn't say whether or not he stayed awake at the opera. Methinks not ...)

Many thanks for the compliment, both to me and to Roger, Buttons Hippo!

As for thinking that Buttons might have slept through the concert, Verdi you get that idea from?

Buttons Hippo might notlive here much longer if he continues to be rude about my puns, jokes and singing.

my secretary has drawn my attention to the bickering that is going on amongst comment-leavers to my blog ––– i am, naturally, delighted to be the inspiration for such witty badinage!
